Mrs. Willie Mae Wise Holladay, 99, widow of James Verdell Holladay, Sr., entered the gates of Heaven on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Carlyle Senior Care of Kingstree.
Mrs. Holladay was born on March 7, 1923, in Florence County, daughter of the late Joseph Barney and Nellie Rhames Wise. She was a faithful member of Hebron United Methodist Church for over eighty years. She was a member of the Ladies Bible Class, the Afternoon Circle and the Administrative Board for as long as her health permitted.
Surviving are her children, J.V. (JoAnn) Holladay, Swintz (Ruth) Holladay, Jackie (Joyce) Holladay and Cynthia (Donnie) Atkinson; 9 grandchildren, Karen Holladay Sullivan, James (Dana) Holladay, Carol A. Holladay, Bran Holladay, Lee (Leslye) Holladay, Stephen (Sarah) Holladay, David Holladay, Jack (Brooke) Holladay, Jr. and Lisa Atkinson (Jim) Potter; 13 great grandchildren and a soon-to-be great-great grandchild; brother, Willie Joe Wise; brother-in-law, Pete (Joanne) Holladay; sister-in-law, Christine Holladay; host of nieces and nephews, friends and church family.
Mrs. Holladay was preceded in death by a grandson, Davis Deon Holladay; 3 sisters, Lucille W. Frye, Evelyn W. Smith and Lena W. DuBose; 2 brothers, J.B. Wise, Jr. and Willard W. Wise.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice, Melissa Poston and the Staff at Carlyle Senior Care for their love and care.
Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon, Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Hebron United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Hebron United Methodist Church Cemetery, Cades.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
