Wanda (Coe) Hughes

Wanda Coe Hughes, 55, wife of Ricky B. Hughes, died Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at MUSC Health Marion Medical Center.

Mrs. Hughes was born on September 5, 1965, in Florence County, daughter of the late John Thomas Avant and Betty Jo Herring Avant. She was a graduate of Johnsonville High School and Florence Darlington Technical College. Mrs. Hughes was a homemaker and former caregiver.  

Surviving are her husband, Ricky B. Hughes of Gresham; son, Brandon Van (Chelsey Lynn) Coe of Johnsonville; daughter, Darla Hartfield of Johnsonville; step-daughters, Crystal Ann Hughes and Christie Ann (Cliff) Owens, both of Hemingway; step-son, Christopher T. Hughes of Hemingway; grandchildren, Braiden Coe, Zachary Coe, Noah Coe, Stormy Coe, Ethan Hartfield and Blake Hartfield, Warren Whetsel and Emily Owens; brother, Tommy Avant of Scranton; half-siblings, Wally (Patty) Avant, John Avant and Evelyn Avant, all of Florence; fur baby, Roxy Coe.

Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her sisters, Beth Howell and Darlene Carrigan; brother, Charles Avant.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, July 23, 2021 at Carolina Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Lake City Memorial Park.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughter, Darla Hartfield, 287 Byrnes Circle, Johnsonville, SC 29555.
