Samuel Frank Poston

Samuel Frank Poston, 92, passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, June 26, 2022.

Mr. Poston was born June 20, 1930, in Florence County, son of the late Wardie and Ronie Poston. He was a farmer by trade and continued to garden all of his days. He grew the best corn and sweet potatoes for miles around, and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with friends and family. He enjoyed fixing up old Farmall tractors and teaching others about farming. He was an avid fisherman and loved to have “fish frys” as often as he could. He was usually accompanied on his fishing trips in the local rivers by his nieces, nephews, and lifelong friend David Cromer, although, the only person that could possibly out fish him was his late wife, Euphemia.

Mr. Poston was a member and deacon of Union Baptist Church. He loved his church and his church family. He loved the Lord and could often be heard singing hymns on his back porch, where he sat most afternoons to relax and catch up with friends, either in person or by phone. He loved his friends and family and wouldn’t hesitate to pick up the phone and call them to chat. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Euphemia, of 65 years and he lived his life close to his family. He was known affectionately as “Nandy” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and all of their friends.

Surviving are his daughter, Angela (Allen) Keith of Pamplico; granddaughters, Casey Cooper and Cristy (Anthony) Altman, both of Pamplico; great grandsons, Jackson Cooper and Parker Altman, both of Pamplico; great granddaughters, Layla Cooper and Payton Altman, both of Pamplico; a very special sister-in-law, Roberta Poston; He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews, including, Ruth Avery and Wendy Swanson.

Mr. Poston was preceded in death by his wife, Euphemia Richardson Poston; son, Francis Poston; brothers, Herman (Hilda) Poston, Earl (Sarah) Poston, Ernest (Betty) Poston and Harold Poston; sisters, Azalee (Murdie) Hanna, Audrey (Wallace) Weaver, Lucille (Roland) Altman, Alberta (Richard) Abrams, Bessie (Ovid) Lyerly and Lois (Harold) Davis.

Funeral services will be 5:00 PM, Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Union Baptist Church. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Poston Family Cemetery, Pamplico.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Monday, June 27, 2022, at the home, 228 Maple Drive, Pamplico, SC 29583.
