Mattie (Wise) Stone

Mattie Wise Stone, 97, wife of the late Raymond Zollie Stone, died Monday, April 5, 2021, at her residence.

Mrs. Stone was born on October 17, 1923 in Florence County, daughter of the late George Wallie Wise and Vendell Stone Wise. She was a graduate of Hannah High School, was a Charter Member of St. John Free Will Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Stone was a Christian lady, who loved and provided care to her family and many beyond her family.

Surviving are her daughters, Lynda (Mervyn) Poston of West Columbia and Gloria (Randy) Stone of Pamplico; brother, Earl (Mary) Wise of Lake City; sister, Annie Powell of Florence; five grandchildren, Temple (Matt) Short of Lexington, Dan Stone of Pamplico, Tara (Al) McWhite of Myrtle Beach, Tiffany Bellamy and Kyle Stone, both of Pamplico; ten great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; caregiver and special family friend, Susan Cabell of Lake City.

Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by her son, Raymond Danny Stone; numerous brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Stone will be in the church from 1:00 – 1:45 PM, Thursday, April 8, 2021, for anyone wishing to view and sign the register book.  

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 8, 2021, at St. John Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, Pamplico.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
