Frances (Seagroves) DuBose

Frances Seagroves DuBose, 74, wife of the late Marion L. “Pete” DuBose, Jr., passed away, Friday, May 7, 2021 at McLeod Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. DuBose was born on March 14, 1947 in Sanford, NC, to the late Raeford Franklin Spivey and Norma Shores Spivey. Mrs. DuBose worked over 33 years for J.P. Stevens-Delta Mills. She attended College Park Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Sonshine Sunday School class and a part of the Ladies Ministry - Women In God’s Service (WINGS). Frances was a member of the VFW in Sanford, a member of the Senior Leatherman Center and Southgate Senior’s bowling league.  Mrs. DuBose loved to travel, working with crafts, scrapbooking, painting, cooking, gardening, shopping and loved to watch the butterflies and hummingbirds from her porch.

Surviving are her daughters, Kristin Adair Powell of Durham, NC and Melinda Lee (Ricky) McKnight of Florence; grandson, Curtis Seth DuBose of Florence; brothers, James (Sharon) Seagroves of Broadway, NC and Sherwood Seagroves of Linden, NC; nieces, Lisa McCrimmon, Teresa Seagroves and Kym Smith, all of Broadway, NC, Kelly Marie Bowen of Linden, NC; nephews, Dallas Seagroves of Linden, NC, Steven (Sharolyn) Pearce of Conway and Mark (Debbie) Matthews of Scranton; sister-in-law, Lizzie Matthews of Scranton; brother-in-law, Ellison Pearce of Scranton; the family would like to give a “Thank You” to a special friend, Bonnie Roof, for her love and care; and her faithful furry companion, Maggie.

Mrs. DuBose was preceded in death by her daughter, Penelope Lynn DuBose; nephew, Bryan Pearce; brothers-in-law, Jimmie DuBose and Clifford Matthews; and sister-in-law, Patsy Pearce.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P. M., Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Lake City Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., Monday, May 10, 2021, at College Park Baptist Church, 1501 3rd Loop Rd, Florence, SC 29505.
