Ms. Mildred Ernestine Coker, 93, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Pocotaligo River Health and Rehab, Manning.
Ms. Coker was born on May 13, 1929, in Florence County, daughter of the late Jessie F. Hancock and Armie Olive Kirby Hancock. She was a graduate of Olanta High School and attended Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church, as long as her health permitted. Ms. Coker enjoyed yardwork, cooking, and sharing with her family, friends and neighbors.
Surviving are her daughter, Barbara (Bill) Brown of Turbeville; grandchildren, Lasha (Sidney) Welch of New Zion, Jody (Jenny) Williamson of Rockingham, NC, Will (Chasity) Brown of Florence and Craig (Marie) Brown of Lake City; 9 great grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews, and their families, cousins, friends and neighbors.
Ms. Coker was preceded in death by her sister, Gertrude Hutchinson; brothers, Wilbur Hancock, J.W. Hancock, Curtis Hancock and Doris Hancock.
Funeral services will be 4:00 PM, Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Old Piney Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Barbara Brown in Turbeville.
