Carrie Nell Gaymon Wilkes, 85, wife of the late Myers Ralley Wilkes, Sr., died Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at her residence.
Mrs. Wilkes was born on January 30, 1936 in Florence County, daughter of the late Thomas Gaymon and Madlean Hewitt Gaymon. She was a graduate of Olanta High School and was retired from Wentworth Manufacturing. Mrs. Wilkes was a longtime devoted member of Frierson's Tabernacle where she was a former Sunday school teacher and served as Secretary and Treasurer of Ladies Auxiliary for over 50 years. Mrs. Wilkes enjoyed singing and working in her flowers.
Surviving are her children, Tommy (Debbie) Wilkes, Ann (Clifford) Miles, Myers "Peanut" (Janice) Wilkes and Trevor (Wendell) Cook; grandchildren, Jeff (Kim) Wilkes, Lanotta (Chris) Springs, Scott Miles, Jill Wilkes, Casey Wilkes, Zachary Cook, Jonathan Wilkes and Matthew Cook; great grandchildren, Zoie Gainey, Zane Gainey, Ja'Maya Barr and Thomas Wilkes; brother, Jackie (Trish) Gaymon; sisters-in-law, Dot Gaymon and Magdalene Bradshaw; brother-in-law, Johnny Locklair.
Mrs. Wilkes was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 17, 2021, at Frierson's Tabernacle, Lake City, with burial to follow at Hicks Hill Cemetery, Scranton.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Friday, April 16, 2021, at Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton.
Due to COVID-19, the family requests for everyone to wear a mask and please maintain the 6 foot social distancing. The family also requests everyone to please refrain from hand shaking and hugging one another.
