Donnie Ray McClam, 67, went home to be with Jesus, while surrounded by his family, Saturday, July 24, 2021, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence.
Donnie Ray was born on March 17, 1954, in Florence County, son of the late Delbert Barnwell McClam and Virginia Belle McAlister McClam. Donnie was a graduate of J.C. Lynch High School and served in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne, Ft. Bragg. After his military career, he was an independent truck driver for many years, then later became a sub-contractor in construction. Donnie was known for planting a big garden and sharing the fruits of his labor but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving are his brother, Thomas G. “Tommy” (Beverly) McClam and sister, Vonnette McClam Evans, both of Coward; nieces and nephews, Misty (Peanut) Miller, Casey (Brad) Oxendine, Michael (Tiffany) Evans, Brad McClam, Bobby Flowers, Sarah (Ralph) Outlaw and Ashley DuBose; adopted nephew, Noah Dangerfield; Goddaughter, Chelsey Reed.
Donnie Ray was preceded in death by his sisters, Linda McClam Flowers and Debra Jean McClam; brothers, Kenneth McClam, Glenn McClam, Johnny McClam, Delbert “Jack” McClam; niece, Kelly McClam; nephew, Billy Flowers.
Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Monday, July 26, 2021, at his home, 3717 Long Street, Coward. Burial, with full military rites, will follow at The Bible Temple Cemetery.
The family will receive friends, Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, July 25, 2021 at his home in Coward.
